ParkJawn is a product of Civic Synapse Technologies LLC, doing business as ParkJawn (“ParkJawn,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

This Privacy Policy explains how information may be collected, used, shared, retained, and protected when you visit the ParkJawn website or use ParkJawn services, including beta versions of the ParkJawn application and its parking discovery, navigation, community reporting, and optional parking-detection features.

ParkJawn is designed to help drivers find parking more efficiently while respecting their privacy. We seek to collect and retain only the information reasonably necessary to operate, improve, and develop our services.

Information You Provide

We may collect information that you voluntarily provide to us, including your name, email address, messages submitted through our contact form, beta registration information, feedback, and information you choose to provide while using ParkJawn.

If you participate in beta testing or community features, you may also submit parking-related information, including whether you found parking, left a parking space, or were unable to find parking.

Parking reports may be associated with a street, parking area, approximate or precise location, timestamp, and technical information used to evaluate the reliability of the observation.

Participation in optional reporting and testing features may involve additional disclosures and permissions.

Location Information

Certain ParkJawn features use device location information to provide parking guidance, identify nearby streets or parking facilities, estimate walking distances, assist with navigation, and determine proximity to parking-related destinations.

Depending on the feature and device permissions, this information may include:

  • Approximate or precise GPS coordinates.

  • Location accuracy and uncertainty estimates.

  • Destination and parking-search locations.

  • Location timestamps and changes in position.

  • Speed, direction of travel, and movement-related information.

  • Proximity to streets, parking areas, or previously confirmed parking locations.

Location access is subject to applicable browser, operating system, and device permissions.

ParkJawn is designed to help you park, not to maintain a general-purpose record of your daily movements.

Some location information may be processed temporarily to provide immediate functionality. Limited location-related information may also be retained when necessary to support parking reports, confirmed parking events, diagnostics, service reliability, or research and development.

Certain optional diagnostic or parking-detection features may require processing sequences of positioning measurements over time. Such information may be processed locally, transmitted to ParkJawn's infrastructure, or retained for analysis when the relevant functionality and permissions allow.

ParkJawn seeks to minimize unnecessary storage of precise location information and does not intend to create indefinite personal travel histories unrelated to providing or improving its services.

Background Location and Smart Parking Features

ParkJawn may offer optional features designed to recognize parking-related events using device location and movement information.

These may include:

Smart Arrival: Using permitted positioning information to recognize when a driver may have arrived at a parking destination or stopped near a parking location.

Smart Departure: Using location and movement information associated with a previously confirmed parking event to identify a possible departure and help estimate when a parking space may have become available.

Parking Observation and Detection: Evaluating positioning information to improve estimates of parking availability, occupancy patterns, and parking-related activity.

Depending on the implementation, enabled features, and device permissions, some of these functions may operate while the application is visible or, where technically supported and expressly permitted, while it is running in the background.

Background location collection is not automatically authorized merely by visiting the website or reading this Privacy Policy.

Before enabling a feature that requires background location access, ParkJawn will provide appropriate notice and request the permissions or consent required by applicable law and platform requirements.

Users may disable applicable location permissions through their device settings or available application controls. Disabling these permissions may prevent certain features from functioning.

GNSS, Satellite Signals, and Positioning Diagnostics

ParkJawn may use Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) information and related device positioning measurements to develop and improve parking-detection technology.

GNSS is the technology underlying GPS and other satellite-based positioning systems.

Depending on device capabilities, permissions, and enabled features, diagnostic information may include:

  • GPS and other satellite positioning measurements.

  • Satellite identifiers, constellations, and signal characteristics.

  • Satellite signal strength and carrier-to-noise measurements (C/N0).

  • Satellite elevation and azimuth information.

  • Location accuracy, uncertainty, and positioning quality.

  • Changes in satellite reception and signal quality.

  • Raw GNSS measurements, timing information, pseudorange, carrier-phase, or Doppler information where supported.

  • Movement-related sensor measurements, where available and permitted.

  • Timestamps and related technical information used to evaluate positioning behavior.

Such measurements may help ParkJawn research whether changes in satellite reception, positioning accuracy, or other environmental signals can contribute to better parking-availability estimates.

Some processing may occur directly on a user's device. With appropriate permissions or participation in optional diagnostic programs, selected measurements may also be transmitted or retained for calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and development.

Diagnostic information may contain or permit the reconstruction of location or movement patterns. Accordingly, ParkJawn treats identifiable positioning information as potentially sensitive, even when it does not directly include a user's name.

Advanced GNSS diagnostic collection, including any background collection of such data, will be subject to applicable permissions and additional notice or consent where required.

The presence of these descriptions in this Privacy Policy does not mean every diagnostic feature is currently active or that all listed measurements are collected from every user.

Community Parking Information and Automated Observations

ParkJawn may use voluntarily submitted parking reports and eligible automated observations to improve parking recommendations for other users.

For example, a confirmed parking departure may contribute to a temporary estimate that a parking space could have become available.

ParkJawn may evaluate these observations using location, timestamps, positioning confidence, and other relevant information.

Parking observations may be converted into street-level or parking-area-level information and incorporated into availability estimates.

ParkJawn seeks to present community parking information without publicly displaying the identity of the individual who contributed it.

However, location-related information may remain potentially identifiable, particularly when combined with other information. We do not assume that removing a name automatically makes location information anonymous.

Beta Testing, Research, and Product Development

ParkJawn is an evolving parking-technology platform. Certain beta or experimental features may involve additional diagnostic information to evaluate parking predictions, navigation performance, positioning accuracy, or automated parking detection.

Information collected through authorized testing may be used to:

  • Measure the accuracy of parking recommendations.

  • Evaluate parking arrival and departure detection.

  • Study positioning and satellite-signal behavior.

  • Mapping, geocoding, and navigation services, including Mapbox.

Depending on the feature being used, relevant information such as search locations, destinations, routing requests, technical identifiers, or other data required to deliver the service may be processed by these providers.

Third-party services may also be governed by their own privacy policies and terms.

The expiration of a parking-availability signal does not necessarily mean that all associated diagnostic or administrative records have been immediately deleted.

Where appropriate, information may be deleted, aggregated, or de-identified when it is no longer reasonably necessary for its original purpose.

Backup records and information subject to legal or security requirements may be retained for additional periods as permitted by law.

Children's Privacy

ParkJawn is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without the authorization required by law, we will take appropriate steps to delete or otherwise address that information.

Your Choices and Privacy Rights

Disabling a permission generally prevents future collection that depends on that permission, but does not automatically delete information previously collected.
